  1. Whist on the Away kit theme - why did both Halifax and Featherstone wear their away kits in Sundays Grand Final?
  2. Sadly as a club we need to accept that we attract idiots when the team reaches a final (or plays Cas). How we control this situation when tickets are open to anybody to buy I don't know. I sat in the North stand yesterday with my wife who is pregnant. We would normally have prefered to be with the "singers" in the terracing but considered it a safer option to sit as we envisioned problems might happen. Why? Simple - kick of at 5:30. Plenty of time for the "glory hunting part-time" supporters to get tanked up and cause trouble. At the full time hooter we made a quick exit even though we really wanted to applaud the lads for their efforts this season. Outside, at the back of the East stand, 4 Fev fans were walking up and down abusing anybody wearing Halifax colours. They looked desperate for someone to retaliate. It makes my heart sink to think these idiots are attracted to our club. I realise every club has a minority of idiots but that dosen't mean we should turn a blind eye to our own problems.
  3. Just seen on the UK Forum that there's a night of RL interest programmes on BBC4 tonight with historic Featherstone footage at 10pm - might be of interest to some. Rugby League TV theme-night coming up - on Tuesday 7/9/2010 - BBC 4 9pm and 2.10am - Eddie Waring: Mr Rugby League. Documentary about Eddie Waring, the man who helped raise rugby league's profile. 10pm - The Game That Got Away. 1969 documentary about rugby league, featuring access to a Featherstone Rovers match. 10.30pm. Challenge Cup Classic: The 1978 Rugby League Final. Eddie Waring commentates on the 1978 Challenge Cup final between Leeds and St Helens Midnight - This Sporting Life. A Yorkshire coal-miner decides to better himself by becoming a professional rugby league player. 1963 drama The link to the thread is: http://www.totalrl.com/index.php?showtopic=207968
  4. I think this one could be a classic with the 2 best attacking sides in the division. Fev to win by 2 Att: 3450 First try: Tommy Saxton MOM: Briggs What happens if it's a draw? Is it 10 minutes extra time then golden point?
  5. I believe the Northen Rail winners "tick" was added to keep the sponsers happy. Most Championship clubs were starting to use the competition as a glorified pre-season warm up (which is what is still is in my eyes). IMO any Championship club who finish in the top six every year for each 3-year period, should be allowed to apply for a franchise. The bonus point system makes a mockery of league placings anyway!
  6. I wouldn't say pace is his greatest asset, he's more in the Paul Newlove mould (so should go well at Saints).
  7. Agree with you on the Joel Tomkins ommission but back row is our strongest area, maybe McNamara feels we don't need him. The forward power looks good but we look very lightweight in the outside backs.
  8. Haven have been poor this year but I don't think anyone has battered them at home. Haven 10 - Fev 28 MOM - Briggs 1st try scorer - Dale Att - 1400
  9. Great news Good to see the club is looking to build momentum through having a settled squad.
  10. Couldn't disagree more. Come on, Rugby League is far more than a business! Anyway, what business would contemplate alienating its hardcore customers? Mergers would inevitably lead to "parochial" fans being lost to the game. Over time some of the tribal allegiance may fade and a few may filter back to watch the merged entity (especially if they are sucessful) but can RL afford to lose any fans at all?
  11. People from Kippax consider themselves from Castleford even though the postal code and phone numbers are both Leeds. When someone says "lets go into town" they mean Castleford and not Leeds. Their are a fair few Cas fans in Garforth, Micklefield and Swillington as well, all of which are in the Leeds district.
  12. All apart from the sin binning of the Leigh winger which I thought was a bit pedantic and was worth a penalty at best. I agree though, on the whole I thought he did well.
  13. Smeaton Welham Dale Hard to single people out but everybody stood up after most were quiet at Keighley. Well done lads
  14. A great win again. A big thank you to DP and the lads. Some great tries (the first Smeaton try was a belter) and great tackles (the Briggs ball steal clinching the win). Off to watch the game on Sky+, still buzzing no chance of sleeping
  15. I'm relatively confident about this one. As someone has already said we not had back to back below par performances this season. With a noisy home crowd and the chance of "killing off" one of our main rivals for top spot we hopefully will get the win. Fev 26 - Leigh 18 MOM - Finn First try scorer - Kaye Att - 2098 Have Leigh got all their dual contract players available? They have looked quite tame without them this season.
