Castleford Tigers have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of the business end of the season, after forward Grant Millington suffered a serious knee injury that could see him sidelined for upto six weeks.
Millington has been in exceptional form for the Tigers in 2014, but as well as missing their huge semi-final against Widnes next weekend, he will also miss plenty of league action, with the play-offs fast approaching.
Boss Daryl Powell said: : “Obviously Weller is suspended, but Grant Millington will definitely be missing too. He’s got an MCL injury on his knee so that’s going to keep him out for a few weeks.
“He’ll miss the semi-final which is disappointing for us, but there’s nothing we can do about it. Apart from those two everyone else will be available though – with the exception of Michael Channing who still isn’t right.”
Elsewhere, Powell confirmed the club could appeal Weller Hauraki’s suspension that also rules him out of the semi-final date with Widnes next week, stating he believes it was more careless than reckless.
“I thought it was careless; I didn’t think it was reckless. We’re still looking at the option to appeal that, and it’s something we’re considering at the moment. Until then I won’t make any further comment on Weller at the moment.”
