Could one of the most controversial figures in the NRL be heading for Super League in 2015? It seems that way, as Catalan Dragons have confirmed they are in talks with Todd Carney over a potential move to Super League.
The Dragons have confirmed they are in talks to strike up a deal to sign the talented 28-year-old, who has been forced into a move overseas after being sacked by Cronulla Sharks earlier this year.
Catalan head coach Laurent Frayssinous did admit earlier this season that he would be interested in Carney, and it is believed that a deal is on the table for Carney to sign for the club for four years. He said: “What I can tell you as a coach is everyone would love to have such a quality player. He’s one of the best stand-offs in the world.”
“There are a lot of rumours in the media but the deal is not done,” said Catalan spokesman Yannick Rey.
“We are still in negotiations with him.”
