Reports in Australia continue to link St Helens coach with the vacant coaching job at NRL side Wests Tigers – with Rugby League Week reporting that Brown is heading up the list of candidates for the job alongside one other man.
Current Wests assistants Todd Payton and David Kidwell have been interviewed, but they are not thought to be in the running for the job, meaning an external appointment seems likely.
Brown has been linked with the role ever since Mick Potter lost his job, and his name has been placed alongside former Brisbane Broncos coach Anthony Griffin – with RLW suggesting an appointment could be made as early as this weekend.
They say that Brown undertook a “conference-call style phone interview with the board” of Wests, further increasing the speculation that Brown could be in line for a return to his native Australia.
With the Saints having a week off from the play-offs this week, this story could well be worth keeping an eye on as developments continue Down Under.
