Former Bronco Drinkwater signs with NRL side

Former London Broncos half-back Josh Drinkwater has secured a deal back in his native Australia, after signing for NRL side Wests Tigers on a two-year contract.

Drinkwater only arrived in London for the beginning of the 2014 season after signing from St George, but left the capital following the Broncos’ relegation to the Championship.

However, he has now managed to sign back up with an NRL team, getting on board with the Tigers in preparation for the 2015 campaign. He began pre-season training with the club on Wednesday, and said he’s delighted to be back home after his year in Super League.

“I’m very excited to be back home,” said Drinkwater. “Once this opportunity came up, I was over the moon.”

Drinkwater did enjoy an impressive season with the Broncos, finishing as their top points scorer. He scored five tries and kicked 58 goals in total, but it wasn’t enough to guide the club away from the foot of the Super League table.
