Speculation is growing that St Helens legend Sean Long could be set to return to the club in a coaching capacity, after it was revealed on Twitter that he has left his coaching role with Salford Red Devils.
As is often the case, Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash took to the social media platform to make the announcement, tweeting: “The club has reluctantly agreed to Sean Long’s request to leave the club with immediate effect. I personally feel very disappointed.”
Koukash later followed that tweet with another containing expletives, which said: “He knows why he is leaving and I wish him all the best. We won’t take him back again.”
The addition of Long to Kieron Cunningham’s backroom staff would see another Saints legend join the team, after it was announced on Friday that Ade Gardner is to join the setup alongside new coach Cunningham.
Long is currently working as an assistant to Matt Parish during Samoa’s Four Nations campaign in Australia.
