Wakefield loan out Molloy to Sheffield

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have allowed Sheffield Eagles to take forward Jon Molloy on loan for a month to gain valuable match fitness.

The forward, who boss James Webster admits has been training well prior to the start of Super League XX, will join Mark Aston’s side for a month to pick up fitness and experience, with Webster insisting that he still has a role to play in the squad.

With a packed Easter schedule on the horizon following the conclusion of that month, Webster is under no illusions about how important it could be to have Molloy back match fit and sharp.

Webster said: “Jon has been training really well this pre season and with him going on loan to Sheffield for a month will allow us to have a match fit player ready for the Easter period which we will know will require the majority of our squad to play.”

Meanwhile, the Eagles have also handed Steve Thorpe a new deal with the club.
