Wane punishing player errors with press-ups

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has revealed his novel way of keeping his players on their toes when they make an error – by forcing them to do 50 press-ups!

Wane’s Warriors head to Castleford this Friday after a surprise 22-20 defeat to Hull Kingston Rovers at the weekend, and after the players suggested the punishment for when they make errors, Wane has agreed with the proposal and has implemented it.

So, with the new rule being introduced, whenever a Warriors player makes a handling error, they will be forced into doing press-ups.

“I try different methods,” Wane said. “The players have come up with that one and I’m going to go with that.

“The message is very simple – keep hold of the ball, look after the skill and we’ll win games.”
