Huddersfield Giants head coach Paul Anderson has admitted that Shaun Lunt’s departure from the club does give them some “maneuverability” in the transfer market, but they are in no rush to sign anyone.
Lunt left the Giants for Hull KR last week, but with both Luke Robinson and Kyle Wood operating at hooker last week, Anderson insists that there’s no great desire to bring someone in just for the sake of it.
However, should the right player become available, Anderson revealed the Giants now have the possibility to bring someone into the club.
“Lunty’s departure does give us some maneuverability in the player market, as a fair chunk of salary cap has now become available,” Anderson told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.
“I’m constantly talking to the chairman (Ken Davy) and managing director (Richard Thewlis) about potential targets.
“We’re in no rush to bring in a new player, but if someone becomes available we do now have the ability to move in on that.
“At the moment, we have a very healthy squad and we’ve a lot of faith in what they’re doing. But it’s good to know we do have the option to make a move if we feel it’s required.”
