Wakefield’s woes continued on a balmy Spring evening, as they slipped to a ninth successive defeat in the league, losing 22-40 to Wigan.
The result is Wigan’s first win in West Yorkshire in Super League for 19 months, dating back to their play-off win against Huddersfield in 2013.
Joe Burgess starred with a hat-trick, and Matty Smith registered 16 points of his own as the Warriors moved up to second.
They have now won three league games in succession, and have posted five of their last six games as wins.
