Leeds Rhinos secured a dramatic victory tonight at Huddersfield Giants, winning 16-20 with a try in the last seconds of the game by winger Ryan Hall.
And the Rhinos’ victory ended Wigan’s chances of winning the Shield, despite the Warriors beating Castleford Tigers 47-12 tonight at the DW Stadium.
It means that the Warriors will now play Huddersfield at home on Thursday in the first Super 8s semi-final, with Leeds due to play St Helens on Friday night at Headingley.
The star of the show for Wigan was winger Dominic Manfredi, who scored four tries.
