Leigh Centurions head of rugby Derek Beaumont thinks there’s no reason why his new-look squad can’t go through the regular season unbeaten.
The Centurions only lost once during the first 23 rounds of the competition last year before the split for the Super 8s – but, speaking to the Leigh Observer, Beaumont wants to see Leigh set yet more records in the year ahead.
“I know the old saying, nothing is guaranteed in sport, as there are too many outside influences.
“So many will perhaps say I am a little bold when I state 2016 will be a year where we again break records we have previously set in the last two years,” Beaumont said.
Beaumont also thinks one rather ambitious individual record could be broken in the year ahead, too.
“I also think the six tries in a game by one player looks vulnerable, based on what I have seen so far. However the achievement I believe is possible is to go through the comp without defeat home and away in the regular season.”
