The new Super League season hasn’t even started yet – but Castleford Tigers are still making plans for what lies ahead in the years to come.
The Tigers have a number of key stars out of contract at the end of this season – including prop Andy Lynch, who indicated to League Express several weeks ago that he will be playing on next year.
Other big names like Oliver Holmes and Luke Dorn are also out of contract when the 2016 campaign ends, and coach Daryl Powell has told the Pontefract and Castleford Express that they are well on with discussions about renewals already.
“We are talking to players about renewing contracts,” he said.
“Some boys have got to put some runs on the board early in the season, a couple of other players we are talking to already.
“We’ll just keep working through it.”
Powell also said that he thinks the culture and atmosphere around Castleford at the moment makes it an easy place for players to want to stay.
“I think this is a great place to be at the moment,” he added.
“Players enjoy the environment and enjoy playing within this team and the way that it goes about its work and the way the team plays.
“That’s the biggest thing for me. I always wanted to play where I enjoyed it and the team fitted in to the way I wanted to play the game.”
