New London signing won’t arrive until March

London head coach Andrew Henderson has revealed new halfback signing Israel Eliab will not arrive at the club until March.

The PNG international is still going through the process of sorting his visa ahead of his move to the Broncos.

Eliab is likely to miss the first six games of the season.

“He’s in the final stages of sorting his visa,” Henderson told TotalRL.

“He has his final interview in the process at the end of this month so we’re hopeful of  having him here by mid-March.

“I knew being from PNG it would take a bit longer as they have less access and, for example we had to fly him to Australia to do his English test because they only do them once a month. You’ve got to field these hurdles along the way. We hoped to have him here by mid February, so it’s a bit disappointing, but he’ll be a timely boost when he arrives because he is a quality player.”

Meanwhile, Henderson has issued a warning to his side ahead of their clash with newly promoted Oldham.

“They’re a dangerous animal to face,” he said.

“You play the promoted team, they’ve got nothing to lose and they’ll come out with bags of energy and enthusiasm. I know Scott Naylor will have them pumped.

“They’re not expected to win so they’re a dangerous team. They’ll play a direct game and complete high. We have to control the ball and play in the correct areas of the field, hopefully then we can get over them with our fitness in the final 20 minutes.”
