The opening match of this week’s Rugby League action features Salford Red Devils going up against St Helens in a televised encounter.
Salford are looking to get their season up and running while the Saints are eyeing up consecutive wins to get their campaign off to the perfect start.
Who will come out on top remains to be seen, but these four players might have a big impact on the end result.
Morgan Knowles
You’re probably not the only one muttering ‘who’ at your screen.
Knowles is set to make just his second appearance for Saints tonight and might be the man to replace James Roby. So thankfully, he doesn’t have the biggest set of shoes to fill…
But he is regarded as a player to watch by Saints this year, and he is vying to take the opportunity presented to him.
Ben Murdoch-Masila
Of all Salford’s new recruits, Murdoch-Masila was one that stood out in their defeat to Hull last week.
The Tongan international created two tries and proved to be a real handful for the Airlie Birds throughout the match.
He’ll need to have a similar impact against Saints, especially considering the manner in which Salford were dominated in the pack last week.
Kyle Amor
Amor was an unsung hero in St Helens’ victory over Huddersfield, putting in more than his fair share of work.
After Salford were bullied off the park last week, Amor will be relied upon to do the same to the Red Devils tonight to increase the likelihood of victory.
Josh Jones
A familiar face will go up against the Saints tonight.
Centre Josh Jones spent a number of years at Saints before trying is hand at rugby union, although he swiftly returned to the 13-man code this year.
On his home debut, Jones could cause plenty of damage given the right service from the halfbacks.
