Salford put everyone on red alert after hammering St Helens 44-10.
The Red Devils put Keiron Cunningham’s side to the sword in an eight-try romp, with Robert Lui and Niall Evalds scoring twice.
It was an incredible display by the ill-fancied Devils, who carved St Helens’ frail defence apart at ease throughout the match.
As for St Helens, it was a miserable night that was compounded by a serious looking injury to Mark Percival, who went to the changing room on crutches.
The game was effectively over after 15 minutes following tries through Greg Johnson, Craig Kopczak and Lui, before Saints sub Alex Walmsley cut the arrears.
However by half-time Salford were in cruise control as further tries from Lui and Evalds put them 32-6 ahead at half-time.
Tries from Adam Walne, the excellent Michael Dobson and Evalds followed, and although Adam Swift scored for Saints, it was damaged limitations.
