McIlorum looking forward to Hinchcliffe duel

Wigan Warriors hooker Michael McIlorum admits he’s not seen much of opposite number Ryan Hinchcliffe – but says he’s impressed with the limited clips he has been shown.

McIlorum will aim to continue both his and Wigan’s impressive start to the new season tonight when they travel to Huddersfield to take on the Giants, with the England international set to line up against former NRL star Hinchcliffe.

And he says that from what he has seen, it should be a great battle.

“I don’t know too much about Hinchcliffe, I’ve not seen much of him apart from this week but I’ve had some tip-offs about his game and he’s obviously a class act,” he told TotalRL.com.

“He was stuck behind Cameron Smith at Melbourne which is obviously tough, but from the clips I’ve seen he looks a good player, so it’ll be a good duel for me on Friday.”

McIlorum also says he’s expecting a big response from the Giants after their loss to St Helens last Friday.

“They’re a quality team who we’ve had plenty of big battles with over the years, and I’m expecting a big response from them after losing on the opening weekend.

“They’re littered with quality players and it’ll be a really tough contest for us.”
