Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson admits it was a tough decision to leave former Wigan winger and England international out of his side for the World Club Series win against St Helens.
Robinson opted for a wing pairing of Daniel Tupou and Shaun Kenny-Dowall for the 38-12 win against the Saints, with both winger crossing during the victory.
And Robinson admitted it was the toughest decision of all the team selections he had to make on the night, adding that centre Latrell Mitchell’s full pre-season with the Roosters gave him an edge.
“It was probably the toughest call,” Robinson said. “Latrell (Mitchell) has been there all off-season, whereas Joe has had five or six weeks with us.
“But he’s a very good player and he’ll play a lot of NRL this year.”
