Full-back – Jamie Shaul (Hull FC)

He might have been on the losing side, but Shaul continues to showcase just why everyone on Humberside is so excited about him.
His performance was far more than the two tries he scored. Every time he got the ball he looked ready to produce something magical and at such a young age he has great leadership qualities.
England’s in-form full-back at present.
Winger – Tommy Makinson (St Helens)
Team of the week appearances: 1
Makinson aerial qualities are exemplary, and he showcased that to devastating effect on Friday. Not only did he overcome Ryan Shaw in an aerial duel to score, he also assisted Atelea Vea for a crucial try 13 minutes from time.
Often an afterthought in the battle for an England jersey, but more performances like this will help Makinson stake a claim to Wayne Bennett.
Centre – Kallum Watkins (Leeds Rhinos)
Team of the week appearances: 1
It’s not all doom and gloom for the Rhinos, because in Watkins they have a player that continues to play at the very highest level.
Watkins scored arguably the try of the round as he raced 80 metres to score the final try against Catalans and secure a grandstand finish.
He avoids defenders like they aren’t there and really is world class.
Centre – Charly Runciman (Widnes Vikings)
Team of the week appearances: 1
Runciman was linked with a return to the NRL in the off-season, and you can see exactly why following his performance against the Giants.
The classy centre, 22, continues to breach the sternest of Super League defences, scoring Widnes’ third try at the John Smith’s on Sunday.
Denis Betts will certainly be hoping his performances go under the radar
Winger – Denny Solomona (Castleford Tigers)
Team of the week appearances: 2
Seriously, are there words to describe this guy?
His hat-trick of tries against Hull FC reinforces the fact that he is one of the most gifted wingers to ever play in Super League.
He has work to do defensively, but he is still one of the best players in the competition at this point.
Stand-off – Kevin Brown (Widnes Vikings)
Team of the week appearances: 2
His coach has backed him for England, and it’s very difficult to argue with him.
Brown put his former team to the sword on Sunday as he masterminded a Vikings victory that sent them back to the top of Super League.
If he stays fit, Widnes could achieve great things this year.
Scrum-half – Luke Gale (Castleford Tigers)
Team of the week appearances: 1
He was the difference between the two sides at the KC Stadium, simple as that.
His ability to come up with several key plays, most notably the stunning drop-goal late on, steered his side to victory.
However his biggest contribution came defensively as he hauled back Mark Minichiello as he looked certain to score. Not bad for a half-back!
Prop – Dave Taylor (Catalans Dragons)
Team of the week appearances: 2
Taylor has impressed at the Dragons so far, but he saved his best performance for the treble winners.
Big in stature and bigger in workload, Taylor was rewarded with a rare brace of tries.
Catalans’ best off-season signing at this point.
Hooker – Lloyd White (Widnes Vikings)
Team of the week appearances: 2
In a nutshell, he was absolutely magnificent.
Scheming with the ball and solid in defence, White is quickly becoming one of the star hookers in the competition.
A joy to watch.
Prop – Dane Tilse (Hull KR)
Team of the week appearances: 1
It’s been a tough start to the year for Hull KR, and they desperately need someone to lead from the front.
Step up Tilse, who was a trojan in the KR pack as they scared St Helens on Friday.
Second-row – Ben Currie (Warrington Wolves)
Team of the week appearances: 2
Currie continued his superb start to the season with a two-try display against Wakefield.
The exciting prospect looks set to be the next breakout star at this rate.
Second-row – Glenn Stewart (Catalans Dragons)
Team of the week appearances: 1
Stewarts arrival at Catalans was regarded as a huge coup for the club.
Now we know why.
An exceptional performance alongside Dave Taylor really put Catalans on the front foot against the Rhinos.
Loose-forward – Jordan Thompson (Hull FC)
Team of the week appearances: 1
A forgotten star in the Airlie Birds fold, but Thompson was one of their star performers in defeat to Castleford.
His first-half try put his team back on track and he played a significant role throughout.
