City of Hull Academy duo Joe Wardill and Kieran Moran have been promoted to Hull KR’s first team squad following the pair’s impressive start to the season.
Centre Wardill and prop Moran are ring-fenced to the Robins as part of their involvement in the new academy at Bishop Burton College where they are under the tutelage of head coach and former Rovers skipper James Webster.
Hull KR’s Head of Rugby Jamie Peacock said: “We’ve had good reports on how Joe and Kieran are developing with the academy and they’ve earned this opportunity through their performances on the field and in training.
“They won’t be added to the first team squad full-time at this stage, but this is a chance for them to integrate into our systems and structures and familiarise themselves with life as a professional rugby league player.
“It’s the next step in their development process and they’ll be training with the first team squad alongside their current commitments to the academy and their education.
“They took part in training with the squad last week and enjoyed the experience so we’re looking forward to helping them progress even further.”
