Koukash will receive case file, but the Doc remains unhappy

The RFL insist Salford owner Marwan Koukash will be presented with a full case file ahead of an upcoming hearing into the Red Devils’ alleged breach of salary cap rules.

Koukash addressed the media today and said that he would like to see evidence of the charges against the club.

His press conference has prompted The RFL into a response. An RFL spokesperson said: “Any club that is charged in relation to breaches of the RFL Operational Rules and Salary Cap regulations will be presented with the full case file of evidence at least 14 days before the hearing takes place.

“The RFL will present its case, the club will have the opportunity to respond and it is then up to an Independent Tribunal to decide as to where a breach has occurred and what the subsequent punishment should be.”

The RFL released a statement last Friday revealing that Salford had been charged. Marwan Koukash has now been given a number of dates to choose from for a hearing. However, it would appear that Koukash is not happy with The RFL’s latest response as he continues to push for evidence of the charges against them.

Salford travel to Castleford on Sunday occupying seventh place in the Super League table, and Koukash had earlier promised “all-out war” with the RFL if the Red Devils are hit with a points deduction.

He said: “If necessary, I will go to the highest court in the land. I have the means to do so in order to protect the interests of my club, its fans and our players. If they start deducting points from us, I’ll press the red button and go for all-out war.”
