St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham has revealed that Jonny Lomax is inching closer to a return to first-team action – describing him as being “not far off” in his quest to get back playing.
Lomax has not played in a first team match for the Saints since last March, having spent the last two years plagued with serious knee problems.
The Saints always insisted that they would never pencil in a particular date for Lomax to make his comeback – but speaking to the St Helens Star, Cunningham revealed he’s on the verge of his return to the side.
The St Helens coach said: “He is not far off, he has been running about a fair bit with us and his is sort of imminent.
“There has never been a timeframe on Jonny, it is a question of ticking all the boxes and then he will get a fair crack at it.”
