There have been a number of standout stars in Super League so far this year, and Craig Kopczak is in that category.
The Salford forward has been in superb form since his move to the Red Devils for the 2016 season, playing a key role in Ian Watson’s side.
A look at the stats show the magnitude of Kopczak’s performances; he’s averaging 15 carries, 87 metres and 28 tackles per game, while scoring a try almost every other game too.
His current form is of stark contrast to his last year at Huddersfield, where he struggled to emulate the form that earned him praise at Bradford and then the Giants in the League Leaders Shield success of 2013.
Speaking to TotalRL, the Wales international admitted that things had gone flat at the Giants.
“I went a little bit stale there,” he said.
“I wasn’t getting a lot of game time and I was coming off the bench. But Watto (Ian Watson) and Tim (Sheens) have given me a new lease of life and given me a lot of opportunities. With the game time, it has all clicked into place.”
The 29-year-old believes his current form ranks as one of the best stints in his career.
“It’s right up there,” he said. “But there’s always room for improvement and there’s never a perfect player. As a prop it’s also nice to get any try, so it’s all going really well.
“I’m just taking every game as it comes and enjoying playing basically. I knew I had it in me, it was just a case of doing it week in, week out. I’m really enjoying how I’m going at the minute and long may that continue.”
