Halifax coach Richard Marshall says that Simon Grix can have a significant impact on his side as he returns from long-term injury.
Grix was the club’s highest-profile close-season recruit from Warrington Wolves, and is now ready to make an impact in his second spell at his hometown club.
Marshall said: “It will be great for us and great for him to get back out onto the field.
“He’s already had an impact at the club from a coaching point of view, working with the reserves and also helping to develop our younger players.
“Now he can have a real direct impact on how we progress through the year and our standing come the end of the season.
“We have to remember that he’s not played for nearly two years, so he will be behind in terms of his fitness and his game sense.
“But what you usually find with senior players is that, while it might take a month to find their feet again, it’s just a week or two with the experienced guys.”
Marshall hasn’t yet decided on one set role for the 30-year-old.
He explained: “We’ll probably start him in the forwards, where he can get some contact and minutes under his belt.
“Whether we keep him there, or look to use him off the bench as a loose forward or in the back row, we’ll see.
“He can also play centre or, at a push, as a pivot, although our guys have been going well there.”
