Widnes face nervous wait on injured duo

Denis Betts is awaiting injury updates on Kevin Brown and Chris Bridge as the two both limped off during Widnes’ disappointing defeat to Warrington.

Brown was forced off late on with an ankle problem and was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

Betts admitted that he was unsure how severe the injury was to his captain.

“He rolled his ankle underneath the posts,” revealed Betts.

“Hopefully it isn’t more bad news after tonight’s performance.”

As for centre Bridge, he went off in the opening ten minutes with a calf injury.

“He tried to take off on a run and just pulled his calf. It’s a freak accident kind of thing. The physios aren’t sure why, he isn’t sure why it’s happened. He warmed up for half an hour before the game and pulled up inside ten minutes.”
