Marwan Koukash has declared that he will appeal the club’s six-point deduction and fine.
It was revealed last night that Salford had been found guilty of breaching the RFL’s Operational Rules and Salary Cap Regulations, with Salford owner Koukash admitting he was shocked by the outcome.

Koukash originally indicated an appeal was unlikely. Following Monda night’s outcome, he tweeted: “The club will only appeal if the RFL can demonstrate to the club and to the sport that the proceedings will be independent.”
However, on Tuesday morning Koukash was back on Twitter and said: “I owe it to the current squad and to our fans to fight the decision made by the RFL tribunal. The club will appeal.”

With the six point deduction, Salford are now joint bottom of Super League, level with Huddersfield after 12 rounds. The RFL have confirmed the points will remain docked during the appeal process, which could take around a month.
