Hull FC centre Kirk Yeaman heads back into a competition he has fond memories of this weekend – and he insists that the Black and Whites are good enough to make it to the last eight of the Challenge Cup on Sunday.
Yeaman was a winner of the sport’s most famous and prestigious competition in 2005, when he played in their cup victory against Leeds Rhinos at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.
Hull have failed to win the cup since then – although they have lost in the final on two different occasions – and Yeaman told the club’s official website that the trip to St Helens on Sunday is an enormous game for Lee Radford’s side.
“I’ve got a bit of history in the Cup and it’s a big competition for myself, personally,” he said.
“This weekend is a big game for the club. It would have been nice to get an easier draw but you get what you get.
“St Helens will be tough but we are going full of confidence knowing we can get the job done.”
However, Hull will be buoyed by their recent victory at Langtree Park, meaning they head to St Helens on Sunday afternoon for the televised tie full of confidence.
“They are a quality outfit who have put some good performances together this season,” Yeaman said.
“We’ve already shown this season that we can go down there and get the win and hopefully we can do it again.”
