Shaun Wane has guaranteed that Sam Tomkins will make his long-awaited Wigan return when the Warriors face Hull FC on Friday.
Tomkins has missed the first three months of the season due to a problematic knee injury that meant he also missed England’s Test series against New Zealand.
However, the 27-year-old will make his second Wigan debut on Friday, over a year after his return was originally announced.
“I’ve not picked my team yet but he will play some part,” said Wane.
“It means everything for Sam to be back. He’s one of the best players in the world. I’m in a really good place. We’re getting some players back and we’re confident going into this game.”
His return follows the reintroductions of influential captain Sean O’Loughlin and Dom Manfredi, who made their first appearances in over a month during Wigan’s Challenge Cup victory over Dewsbury. George Williams also returned the week before against Warrington, and Tomkins’ fitness signals a near fully fit squad for the game against Lee Radford’s side.
