Cunningham delighted with Saints’ response

St Helens head coach Keiron Cunningham thought his side’s victory over Salford was more comfortable than the scoreline suggested.

Two tries in the final quarter saw Saints move into a 34-20 lead, and he said: “It was a really good performance and the final scoreline did not justify the game.

“The players worked their socks off and big Alex Walmsley was back to his best.

“Our league form is pretty good and I am happy where we are heading.

“This game could quite easily have gone against us but we were the dominant team all night and deserved the win.”
