Ellis will be better for Catalans return, says Anderson

Huddersfield Giants coach Paul Anderson believes that half-back Jamie Ellis will produce a much-improved performance in this weekend’s Magic Weekend clash against St Helens.

Ellis made his return from a number of months out during the narrow defeat to Catalans Dragons in Perpignan – and Anderson admitted it was easy to see he had spent so long out of the side.

However, Anderson says that the half-back will be better for his return game, and he can take some confidence and momentum into the St James’ Park game against the Saints.

“It was good to see Jamie come through okay,” Anderson told the Huddersfield Examiner.

“Without being real critical, I think you could tell he’d not played for 12 weeks. There was bound to be a bit of rustiness in there.

“There’s no doubt he’s going to be better for getting that return out of the way, and hopefully we’ll see a lot more from him this weekend.

“He’s feeling confident after the weekend, as are the rest of the side after coming so close out there on Saturday. There are a lot of positives from that game to take into Sunday’s fixture against Saints.”
