We were miles off last week, concedes Shaun Wane

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has revealed he is expecting a performance from him players this weekend – after insisting they were “miles off” their best last weekend.

The Warriors slumped to a home defeat to Hull FC last Friday to drop out of the top four at the expense of bitter rivals St Helens.

Wigan now head to Magic Weekend to face defending champions Leeds Rhinos, who are bottom of the league after the opening 14 rounds of the season.

And Wane is expecting a response from the Hull defeat after pulling no punches when assessing that performance.

“Last year we went there after one of the toughest weeks ever, after Catalans, but they responded,” Wane told Wigan Today.

“The players have pride in their performances and they didn’t like me being so upset with the way we rolled over.

“And I hope they do that again, because we were miles off last week.

“We’ve had our bad day, the players have spoken well and been honest, they know they dipped below our standards.”
