It has been a dark couple of seasons for Warrington prop Ryan Bailey – but he’s starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.
The former Super League winner has not played a Super League game since last June, and is yet to feature for the Wolves after a lengthy road to recovery from surgery just after signing for the club.
But he came through the club’s reserve match last weekend – scoring a try to boot – and is now eyeing up a Super League debut for the league leaders.
However, he revealed that he’s been “on one leg” for the last two seasons – but is confident he can make an impact now he’s fully fit once again.
“It was good to get back out there and to be playing on two legs again,” Bailey told the Warrington Guardian.
“I’ve been playing on one leg for the past two years.
“It was tough after rupturing my Achilles at the pre-season training camp, then there was the infection. Recovery and rehab can be a lonely road at times.
“But I felt good out there, I was like a spring chicken. Super League games are a different intensity, of course, but I wasn’t blowing to get my breath so that’s good.”
