FEATURE: An uncapped England XIII – how good is it?

With England seemingly possessing frightening strength in depth these days, you may have noticed a small note on something altogether rather different in this Monday’s League Express.

Editor Martyn Sadler decided to prove the depth we have in our ranks by selecting a starting XIII made up entirely of players who have never received a cap against another Rugby League nation.

We make that particular point of criteria because one player in the team, Scott Taylor, has made a solitary appearance for his country in the past: but that was against the Exiles in the now-defunct series.

So, would this team give the established England side who won last year’s Test series against New Zealand a game? And which members of it should be given their first caps by new coach Wayne Bennett for this year’s Four Nations?

Here’s the team:
Jamie Shaul (Hull FC)
Dom Manfredi (Wigan)
Josh Griffin (Salford)
Mark Percival (St Helens)
Tom Johnstone (Wakefield)
Marc Sneyd (Hull FC)
Luke Gale (Castleford)
Liam Watts (Hull FC)
Danny Houghton (Hull FC)
Scott Taylor (Hull FC)
Mike McMeeken (Castleford)
Joe Greenwood (St Helens)
Ben Currie (Warrington)

Would it beat the real national side? Let us know!
