Josh Walters will know more than most about the shocking fall from grace Leeds Rhinos have endured this season.
He was the hero for the club in last October’s Grand Final when he scored the decisive try in the win against Wigan – the result which secured a historic treble for the club.
But this year, as everyone knows, things could not be more different. The Rhinos are rock bottom of Super League with just a handful of wins to their name – yet Walters still says he’s enjoying his rugby in 2016.
In fact, the young forward believes he’s learning more this season than last, the one when he was thrown in at the deep end to help Leeds achieve such unprecedented success.
“It is tough,” Walters told the Yorkshire Post. “But I am enjoying my rugby. Obviously it would be nice to be winning, but you learn a lot of things and to be honest, I think I have learned more this year than I did last.
“I have played more games than I did last year as well.
“We have got to keep working hard away from the pitch and eventually results will show on it – we know what we have got to do.”
