Presley looking to re-write history with York

Jonny Presley admits the York City Knights squad are struggling to contain their excitement ahead of the iPro Sport Cup Final.

York take on Keighley in the first game of the Summer Bash, with both teams looking to secure the first silverware of the season.

And Presley admits that the thought of securing success with the Knights is massively appealing.

“Ever since we beat Gloucestershire in the semi-final it’s been building up since then and we’re not too far away now and it’s getting close to fever pitch so we can’t wait.

“In that semi-final, we pulled away from them towards the end of the game. It was a tough game because the All Golds are a good team and they’ve certainly improved from last year. We stuck to the game plan that Fordy (James Ford) prepared for us and we were comfortable winners in the end.

“The club hasn’t been to a final in a knockout competition for many years, which has been spoken about in the local press quite a bit. In terms of the time elapsed since we were last in a cup final, it gives us a good opportunity to re-write history.”
