Cunningham puts faith in his side to issue a response against Warrington

St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham has backed his side to come out of their losing streak when they face Warrington on Friday.

Following successive defeat to Hull FC and Huddersfield, Saints have dropped out of the top four and are four points behind the Wolves, Catalans and fierce rivals Wigan.

A third reverse on the bounce could leave Saints cut adrift from the pack above them, and Cunningham knows his side have to back up their performance against Hull FC with results over the rest of the season.

“We were desperately unlucky not to come away with something from Hull,” Cunningham said. “I thought we performed a lot better than we have done and that’s given the players a bit of belief.

“What we’ve got to do now is back it up and give our home fans a real good performance.

“That’s the key now, the sand-timer of the season is trickling away slowly but surely and those games where you can pick points up will start evaporating.

“Before you know it, you’re in the last two or three games and that can’t really influence what you do for the rest of the season.”
