In-form Castleford second-row Junior Moors has revealed that his recent injury reinvigorated his passion for the game.
The New-Zealand born star has been in sensational form since returning from a hand injury picked up earlier in the year.
He has reaped in the plaudits since, putting in man-of-the-match performances in three of his last four games, which have coincided with Castleford’s upturn in results.
Speaking to TotalRL, the former Melbourne star admitted that the frustration of missing a chunk of the season heightened his determination to perform on the field.
“Having those few weeks out really built that hunger for me to play again,” he said.
“You don’t know how good you’ve got it until you lose it, so to have to sit on the sidelines and watch footy for eight weeks just made me hungry to get back on the field. It’s changed my look on the game.”
Moors admitted that he takes all the praise in his stride.
“It’s good to hear, but I just worry about helping the team win,” he said.
“If I’m helping the team win I’m all for it. I’m enjoying my footy at the moment and we have a good relationship down that left-hand side.”
Castleford are currently sixth in Super League, seven points behind fourth-placed Wigan.
Although the Tigers will have to cut a hefty deficit, Moors is still adamant that they are determined to make the play-offs.
“Our ambition this year is top four, and that is still our ambition for the end of the year. It’s a bit of a mountain to climb but something we are all striving for.
“We’re focused on getting better week in, week out and then that sort of stuff will figure itself out for us.”
