As expected, the Rugby League community are coming out in force to rally around those affected by the tragic death of Ronan Costello earlier this week – and support which grew for an initial idea raised online by a fan account has been recognised.
One Twitter account suggested that all Rugby League games to be played this weekend should feature a minute’s applause in the 17th minute – 17 being Ronan Costello’s age when he passed away. The account in question was Hull FC News, who tweeted:

It has picked up real support in the last few hours or so, and the Rugby Football League have issued a statement saying there will indeed be a minute’s applause at all games.
They said: “Following discussion with the family of Ronan Costello, the RFL have asked that all Rugby League clubs across the country hold a minute’s applause at every game taking place this weekend to celebrate the life of the Huddersfield Giants Academy player who tragically passed away yesterday.”
Castleford Tigers tweeted this on Wednesday morning in support:
