
The RFL have confirmed that referee Richard Silverwood is currently suspended due to an internal investigation.
39-year-old Silverwood has not officiated since the Magic Weekend last month, with an RFL spokesperson confirming that he is currently unavailable.
An RFL spokesperson said: “I can confirm Richard Silverwood is suspended pending the outcome of an internal investigation.”
Silverwood first officiated at the age of 24 in 2001 and took charge of the 2013 World Cup final.
It has also been confirmed that Sam Ansell is suspended after he joined the RFL’s growing number of full-time referees in January.
Chris Campbell and Jack Smith have particularly impressed in their Super League outings in the last couple of months, with Campbell recently fast-tracked by the governing body.
