Salford Red Devils forward Luke Burgess admits he’s excited by the challenge of returning to England for the first time in five years: but admits he is hopeful his short-term deal at the AJ Bell Stadium will be the catalyst in helping him secure a contract back in the NRL next year.
Burgess, who has signed with Salford until the end of the season, will go straight into their squad for their opening Qualifiers fixture against Huddersfield on Sunday.
And the former Leeds forward told TotalRL in the video below that the challenge ahead is one that he is looking forward to as he tries to help the Red Devils secure their Super League status.

However, Burgess calmed any talk of his stay in England being a long one. With a family back in Australia, the 29-year-old is aiming to impress potential new suitors back in the NRL over the next few weeks.
“I’ve left my family behind in Australia and that’s where I see myself long-term,” Burgess said. “This little period is a chance to come over and play some football and find myself a club back in Australia for next year.
“However it’s good to have the opportunity and we’ll just see what happens. I’ve not come back here to pass a bit of time; I’ve come back to play some good stuff.”
