Webster pleased to see KR get off the mark

Hull KR interim head coach James Webster was satisfied with his side’s performance after they defeated Batley 58-18.

Thoughts of an upset were quickly dismissed when Hull KR ran rampant over the Bulldogs after the part-timers had taken an early lead.

And Webster was pleased with the way his sent went about their business.

“It was good to get a win,” he said. “To score 58 points is always pleasing.

“I’m disappointed with the 18 points they scored, but we had guys out there who hadn’t played for three weeks.

“Batley were always going to come here and play. They have played well all season and they are very dangerous near the try-line.

“The way we didn’t let their early try affect us was pleasing.

“Championship sides defend differently by going past the ball to try and stifle teams at the back.

“We went through a lot of calls to bring (Maurice) Blair and (James) Greenwood into play which we weren’t able to execute against Oldham.

“The score didn’t matter too much. Getting the win and coming through fit is outstanding.”
