St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham has revealed that half-back Theo Fages could make his return from injury as soon as next week.
Fages has been missing for a number of weeks due to injury, but with the Saints on such a good run of form, Cunningham conceded that it may be tough to find a place for him with the team playing so well at the moment.
“He has a good chance for next week but it will be tough to change anything,” Cunningham said.
“We are kicking well and sticking to the game plan so it would be tough to change the side at the minute.”
Meanwhile, Cunningham said that he is pleased to see his side navigating such a tough run of games with plenty of victories – but admits Friday’s showdown with Catalans will be a tough encounter.
The Saints are seeking a seventh win in a row at the weekend to strengthen their claims for a top four finish, and after two wins against the Saints this year, Cunningham admits he is wary of Laurent Frayssinous’ side.
“We always try for consistency and as a coach and player the way you get that is by sticking with the same team. You have to give them a shot and it has been working so it hard to change something unless there is something to come in and improve it.
“We probably got the toughest draw of the opening month out of anyone in the competition. We have to play all of the top five in our first four games – and Friday’s game will certainly be tough.
“Catalans are a good side. They have probably hit the skids a little over recent weeks but we have been guilty of that earlier on in the season too. They won on Saturday and have beaten us twice this season. They have certainly had our number but we will be a different side to the one they’ve faced on those two occasions.”
