Hull KR close in on safety… but Salford one step nearer to the Million Pound Game

Hull KR picked up a massive victory in their quest for survival as they defeated Salford 29-12.

Following respective defeats to Leeds and Leigh last week, KR and Salford were both in desperate need of a victory to steer clear of a Million Pound Game appearance.

However, it was Hull KR who triumphed, leaving Salford in a precarious position ahead of their next fixture against in-form Leeds next week.

The damage was done in the first-half, as James Webster’s side opened up a 22-6 lead thanks to tries through Josh Mantellato, James Greenwood and Ken Sio, with Mason Caton-Brown issuing a stunning response for Salford.

Ian Watson’s side threatened a comeback when Gareth O’Brien scored, but Hull KR secured two vital points as Albert Kelly kicked a drop goal before Thomas Minns scored.

A full report will be in Monday’s League Express.
