Sheffield Eagles have launched a funding page online with the aim of raising £20,000 to keep the club alive during crucial takeover talks.
The Eagles say they are in “advanced” talks with an investor, who is willing to back both the club and the city to the tune of over £41 million.
However, they say that delays from the Council in terms of their planning procedures mean the deal would not be completed in time before their “critical timescales” elapse.
Therefore, the Eagles are asking Rugby League fans to raise £20,000 in just three weeks! They are aiming for 2,000 fans to pledge just £10 to help keep the club afloat.
They said on the page: “This is a call out to our rugby league and local community. Once again, in the club’s 30 year history, there is the very real threat of extinction. Please support us raise money to help sustain the club through the takeover!
