Leeds’ Galloway looking at lengthy layoff

Leeds forward Keith Galloway could miss the beginning of pre-season after suffering an Achilles injury in the Rhinos’ defeat to Huddersfield yesterday.

Galloway was forced from the field in Leeds’ 22-14 defeat to the Giants, with halfbacks Rob Burrow and Jordan Lilley also picking up knocks.

The trio will all likely miss the clash with Leigh this week, in a game that will decide who tops the Qualifiers.

“It looks like Keith Galloway has snapped his Achilles,” said McDermott.”I don’t think at any stage our fellows have said ‘it doesn’t matter, we’re in Super League next year’,” McDermott said. “We want to finish as strong as we can.

On the result, he added: “We had too much defending to do in the first half. We got hammered by the penalty count and we dropped the ball as well. We also played a very committed and strong Huddersfield team who had a lot to play for.

“Although we didn’t win today and that is tough, I know my team has got integrity and honesty and showed they can ride some tough moments. I can’t wait for next year, there are some encouraging signs.”
