David Fifita is not a happy man.
The big forward has seen his pre-season plans take a hit after being suspended for two matches by The RFL for a tackle on St Helens’ Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook in Wakefield’s Super 8s defeat last month.
Fifita was charged by The RFL for Grade B dangerous contact and was subsequently found guilty of the offence, despite issuing a not guilty plea.
Due to RFL rulings, Fifita will be free to play in the opening Super League game of the season, but he will be unable to play in pre-season as he serves his suspension.
However, Fifita is still not impressed and believes he has been harshly treated, putting footage of the incident online, as you can see below.

In explaining the sentence, a quote on The RFL website reads: “The Tribunal have carefully watched the DVD on several occasions and have taken into account the letter from the club and the explanation from the player via the telephone. It is accepted by all that there was no intent to cause injury but it is clear that during the course of this tackle the opponent was put at risk of serious injury by the actions of the tackling player. The e-mail from the club accepts that at one stage during the tackle the opponents leg was in a vulnerable position. The tackling players legs were off the floor and his body weight went onto the opponents’ leg. This tribunal are satisfied the player is guilty of dangerous contact.”
