Scotland have named a strong-looking squad for Friday’s Four Nations opener against Australia in Hull.
Steve McCormack’s side will be looking to upset the odds and cause one of the biggest shocks in international rugby history on Friday night, when they face Mal Meninga’s side at the Lightstream Stadium.
However, McCormack’s task has been aided by arguably the strongest Scotland squad in history. Huddersfield half-back duo Ryan Brierley and Danny Brough, who both featured in last Friday’s warm-up game in Cumbria, are both included, and could continue their partnership on Friday against the Kangaroos.
Elsewhere, future St Helens forward Luke Douglas is one of a number of Australian-based players involved, with North Queensland’s Lachlan Coote also in the 19-man squad.
There is Super League involvement aplenty too; Grand Finalists Lewis Tierney and Matty Russell are in, as is Leigh hooker Liam Hood, and Castleford’s Frankie Mariano.
