Brierley given the all clear following ankle injury

Ryan Brierley has been cleared to play in Scotland’s Four Nations game against England on Saturday.

The Huddersfield Giants halfback left the Lightstream Stadium on Friday wearing a protective boot after suffering an ankle injury in the Bravehearts’ 54-12 defeat to Australia.

He underwent scans on Sunday to learn the extent of the injury, but the Scotland camp has been informed this morning that he hasn’t suffered any serious damage, with Brierley nursing bruising and swelling.

The 24-year-old scored Scotland’s first try on Friday, touching down from a kick through from Giants teammate Danny Brough.

Steve McCormack confirmed following their defeat that they had come through the contest relatively unscathed, with Luke Douglas one injury concern after a collision with Australia centre Josh Dugan.
