Exclusive: Bidding deadline for Bradford extended after new interest

The deadline for formal bids to be submitted to take over crisis-stricken Championship side Bradford Bulls has been extended after a new party expressed interest at the 11th hour.

Administrator Gary Pettit, who works for PBC Business Recovery, exclusively told TotalRL.com that despite the original deadline being last night, a potential new bidder had lodged an interest late on – which will be addressed today (Thursday).

“Yes, the deadline has been extended,” Pettit said.

“We’ve had another person come forward and we have a conference call with them later today (Thursday). I had to take the commercial decision to either stick to the deadline as planned or look for what we believe to be the best deal for this club.”

And Pettit said it would have been “nonsensical” to ignore the, as yet, unnamed party who has stepped forward with a new bid.

“The deadline is merely a guideline,” he admitted.

“We’ve had three offers come in thus far but it’s far more beneficial to explore our options. With what was reported to us last night, we’ve simply got to entertain this party and this bid. It would have been nonsensical to ignore it.”

A number of parties have been linked with the Odsal club, including Mandy Koukash, the wife of Salford owner Marwan, as well as businessman Richard Lamb – who had expressed an interest in the Bulls in the past.
