Salford Red Devils head coach Ian Watson has confirmed his interest in signing Wests Tigers outside-back Kevin Naiqama.
However, Watson admitted that the likelihood of a deal being completed was highly unlikely, given that the Red Devils’ overseas quota.
It is understood that the NRL side are keen to offload 27-year-old, with Warrington heavily linked with a move for the Fijian international throughout the off-season.
However, Naiqama’s preference is to remain with the Tigers, where he is under contract until the end of 2017.
Although Watson made it clear that he was keeping tabs on his future, he admitted that a move was unlikely at this stage.
“He’s a good player,” Watson said.
“If someone like that becomes available, everyone’s interested, including us. But we’re full up on our quotas unless something changes, but I’m very aware of Kevin at the moment.
“From what I know of him he wants to stay in the NRL with Wests Tigers.
“He’s not ready to stop trying to play NRL.”
